Lady Canners Close Out Season |

"What a difference a week makes." One week ago the Lady Canners were cruising along with a 3 game winning streak in which they defeated the Littlestown Bolts twice and also came back in the 2nd half to defeat James Buchanan 3 - 1.

Northern Cruises Past Biglerville 15-5 in 5 Innings |

Jeromy Sheets tripled in three runs for the Canners in the 5th inning. Seniors Andrew Keller and Taylor Melemai both singled in their last high school at-bat.
The Canners finish the season at 6-8 in the league and 8-12 overall.

Andrew Keller fired a perfect game, striking out 11 batters in 5 innings. He also singled, doubled, and walked. Casey Ayers, Zach Staub, and Tyler Redding all had two hits. Taylor Melemai also doubled, driving in two runs.

Lady Canner JV Girl’s Soccer Team Triumphs over Littlestown |

On Senior Night at Musselman Field, the Lady Canners JV soccer team wanted to set the tone for the evening by winning their match against Littlestown. The Biglerville ladies had not played a JV match in a while due to injuries on both girls’ soccer teams this year. However, many of our younger players had earned varsity minutes recently with their good performances in JV matches this spring. The Lady Canners got a big boost when Amber Starner returned to action after being out since early in the season. Amber scored two goals and assisted on another one to lead Biglerville to their seventh victory.

Girl’s JV Soccer Team falls to Eastern 1-0 |

The Lady Canners JV soccer team traveled to Eastern York yesterday to play a rematch with the Lady Golden Knights, but wound up on the losing end again by the close score of 1-0.

Lady Canners and York Suburban Finish Match |

The first of several rained out matches was completed last night. This match was originally played on April 11th as the Lady Canners entertained the high flying ladies of York Suburban. At the time the game was suspended because of lightning strikes in the area, York Suburban was leading 2-1 with three minutes remaining in the first half.

Big Spring Tournament Roundup |

Biglerville lost the first game of the Big Spring Tournament to New Oxford, 11-1, in six innings. The Canners then rebounded in the second game to trounce Steel High, 15-0 in five innings. Taylor Melemai knocked in the only run for Biglerville with a sacrifice fly in the first game. Tyler Redding and Zach Sheets combined to pitch a two-hitter against Steel High. Redding and Andrew Keller each rapped three hits including two doubles by Redding and Keller hit a double and a grand slam while racking up five RBI. Getting two hits apiece were Casey Ayers, Taylor Melemai, Jeromy Sheets, and Koby Griest.

The Canners bats were on fire, banging out 14 hits and scoring 15 runs, enroute to a drubbing of Fairfield by a score of 15-4.

Delone Hammers Biglerville 16-6 |

Biglerville gave up 11 walks and 12 hits while committing three errors, as Delone beat the Canners 16-6. Taylor Melemai slammed a three-run homerun, and Casey Ayers and Andrew Keller each had two hits. The Canners fall to 4-7.

One of the mysteries of sports is why, when the recipe for success is present, teams will open up a game completely "out of sync". Certainly, on a beautiful Saturday morning filled with comfortable temperatures and with the sun shining brightly, the Lady Canners just could not start off on the right foot.

Lady Canners Battle Eastern York to Overtime |

After a lackluster effort on Monday night when the varsity lost a 2-0 match to the ladies of Shippensburg, the Lady Canners were in fine form on Wednesday evening during their match at Eastern York. The first place Golden Knights knew that they were in for a tough evening since their first match last week had ended in a well played 2-1 win late in the game.

Lady Canners Fall to Eastern York |

The Lady Canners played one of their best games of the season against a formidable Eastern York team on Thursday evening. The Canners were at their aggressive best and were able to put in the first goal 18 minutes into the contest. Karina Padilla served a nice pass to Olivia Moore who knew what to do with the timely pass as she scored her 9th goal of the season.

Rockets Top Canners, 10-9 |

James Buchanan plated a run in the bottom of the 7th to top the Canners, 10-9, at Buchanan. Casey Ayers hit his second double of the night to drive in Taylor Hess who had singled. Logan Howell then ripped a single to drive in the tying run. But, JB scored the game-winner on an errant throw. Zach Staub homered while Taylor Hess rapped 3 hits, including a double. Getting two hits apiece were Ayers, Howell, Sheets, Keller, and Redding

On a beautiful spring day, the Lady Canners JV soccer team traveled to Shippensburg University to play the ladies from Shippensburg High School on a turf field. The young Canners earned their first win versus a Mid-Penn Conference foe 1-0.
